My Gold Award project: Ensuring pet safety during emergencies.

I am a Girl Scout and I have chosen to complete and earn the Gold Award. The Gold Award is an 80 hour service project where Girl Scouts choose an issue affecting their community and create a project that addresses that issue. My Gold Award project is driven by the need to address the widespread lack of preparedness among pet owners for emergencies caused by natural disasters such as fires, flooding, severe weather, and more. As a pet owner, I chose this project to confront the issue of animals being left behind or separated during emergencies by raising awareness and actively assisting pet owners in preparing for emergencies. One of my solutions to help inform pet owners how to properly be prepared is by suggesting the use of an emergency preparedness kit. I have created an informative video that has all materials linked so that pet owners can easily recreate and use my solution. I hope to contribute to the prevention of pets being left behind or neglected during crisis, and to help build a community that is well-informed and ready to protect the well-being of their pets.

Why Statement

Get to Know Why

My project is centered on raising awareness regarding the significance of preparing for the safety and well-being of our pets during emergencies and natural disasters. Through my project, I aim to empower pet owners, like myself, to prioritize their pets' welfare, ensuring a resilient connection between humans and their pets.
